Another pick up from last summer. I'm always out on the river scheming so I guess the beer name is kind of fitting. Or maybe I'm scheming to get on the river.
Anyhoo, pours a hazy appearance, its kind of bright yellow similar to that on the label. Poured into that 90s era Mirror Pond pint glass out on the porch while grilling. The aroma is nice, but the commercial tug job about massive amounts of Nelson will leave you wondering where it went. There is just as much Centennial/Cascade (?) and Simcoe. Nelson should be overpowering those, but no. More of a citrus rind, orange flesh, and light weed note.
The taste is nice, you get a little of the tropical note from Nelson, but none of the garlic weed body odor papaya contingent. Trees and oranges pop, a light pineapple note. The body is the best thing, they did great with the pilsner malt and white wheat. Good and soft after those initial bittering hop hits makes this one pop nicely mouth feel wise.
Easy to drink at over 8% too, done real well with that. As usual, Wren House makes a pretty good double ipa that is kind of, to speak in March Madness terms, one of the last 4 teams out of the big dance of 1st tier world class dipas. Or maybe they make a play in game I dunno.

Slightly hazy, but not enough to be a New England style.
