Pours a deep brown black with a finger of head that slowly settles to a thin cap with plenty of lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and traces of chocolate. Taste follows nose. Very enjoyable.

Pours a finger of brown head into a snifter. Retention is average and the head fades within a few minutes. Lacing is super thick. Body is black. Looks pretty nice.
Nose has some pine, and some Simcoe-y gooseberry. Not much in the way of roasted malts, some faint chocolate. Smells good, though not super black.
A touch of roasted malt on the flavor, faint gooseberry and pine. Chocolate comes out after a very long warming period. A pretty light flavor, but it’s all there.
Carbonation is medium. Body is pretty light. Bitterness is moderate. No perceivable sweetness, but definitely not dry. Mouthfeel is nice and serviceable.
Drikability is very good.
Overall a solid beer. Could use a little more umph, and a little more black, but solid.
