Fresh Hop IPA comes to Arizona?!
Outside of the bountiful Pacific Northwest, it’s rare to find high quality, consistent hop growers but we’re lucky to have access to immaculate Southwest Grown hops through Billy Goat Hop Farm in Montrose, CO. This year, we drove out to their farm over a long weekend and picked up 600 lbs of freshly picked Cascade and Comet, loaded them into a rental van, and booked it back to Prescott to start one of the most fun brew days of the year.
With a lean grist, 20 lbs per barrel of Fresh Cascade and Comet in the mash tun, and a modest dry hop of their ‘22 Cascade and Comet pellets (we really like their Cascade and Comet…), Fresh Hop IPA gives a floral bitterness and exceptional grapefruit flavor and aroma.

Once again we have a beer from years ago that has not been added to this Next Glass owned database until the almighty bArF got influencing with his content generation. Throw a dog a bone. But also hey, let's review this guy too. Consumed up in the shooting hills and mountains of Pershing County, more glass than anywhere probably.
Pours with a slight chill haze to it, probably an unfiltered fresh hop beer so its understandable if you don't get pristine clarity levels going on. This is a C hop fresh hop beer, so it isn't the most aromatic, but its all good, I like bittering hops. Cascade and Comet doing the usual grapefruit and pine push throughout the experience. There is the middle of the road maltier woody content to it. Its a bitter prickly beer, but the kind of halfway throwback I can get behind.
The taste is kind of the middle ground between those old ibu crystal malt years and the minimalist malt dipa days.
