This is a very well made hazy beer that does not drink like most 8.2% beers thanks to the wizardry of the brewers.
It’s an opaque dark yellow and has a frothy, dense three finger head which shrunk to a thin yet persistent 2cm line. Tons of lacing on the glass
Smells of pineapples and faint citrus. Subtle yet delicious.
On the tongue the Motueka, Cryo and Mosaic hops provide a sweet fruity hop zing up front and then a huge wave of subtle, slight bitterness mixed with flavors of pineapple and grapefruit wash over the middle of the tongue. It feels like it’s going to be bitter at some point but it never quite gets there and that’s the strange beauty of the dry hopped hazy IPA.
Mouthfeel is pillowy and creamy although up front it’s sweet and tingly and then it finishes medium and with a second swallow there is a dryness that kicks in and helps make you want to take a another sip.
Crazy easy to drink and expertly crafted. Stands out but at $18 a four pack of pint cans you’re paying for the quality. This is an outstanding example of the hazy DIPA.
