From the growler via the brewery in a snifter. This solid stout
pours a dark blackish brown with a nice head of tan foam that settles
to a thick ring, thin wafting layer, and shows some nice light lacing. Nose
of dark cocoa, dark coffee, char, light smoke, caramel, and subtle herbal hops.
Flavors pack it in with aplomb. Dark cocoa, dark coffee, char, subtle smoke
to the malt, light herbal hops, subtle cream, and caramel malts. Nice mouth
feel; medium full body, smooth, moderately coating, medium light verging on
light yet subtly crisp carbonation, and a rich bitter malt finish with faint hop
notes.
Of note; warmth brings out dark fruit notes of black and blueberry
amidst a touch of plum.
Overall----excellent! Enter this one in a contest!
