This has light carbonation with an above average body. Thick creaminess along with the deep dark flavors gives this an overall excellent feel
Aroma is everything dark in a good way.. dark roasted coffee and dark bakers chocolate that's mellowed by some mocha candy and milk chocolate.
Has some mild sweetness but is in perfect pairing with the roasted coffee ,dark chocolate bitterness. Alcohol is really well hidden but adds enough just to make you take it seriously.
What an excellent surprise from a local brewery, would try this again

DATE: February 22, 2019... OCCASION: in need of refreshment after Quiz Bowl's second day might not have yielded the scores necessary for a playoff spot... GLASSWARE: Duvel tulip... pours a cola-black body that simmers a swiftly absent brown fizzy head... its aroma teems with a bourbon-like sweetness, rich peat, candied sugars, light mocha, and roasted coffee bean--this wins with a strong, thick vapor... this sips with authority, medium-bodied but heavy as motor oil when it moves to the throat and down... at 10% ABV, this is subtle, soft and tremendously warming... the bourbon barrels impart quite a kick--sweet, woody, and chocolaty... its strength demands patient sips, with the coffee striking a hearty pull with each tilt... rich, empowering bourbon makes this almost worth its weight in gold... it's worth mentioning: this one's price tag ($20 for a 32 oz. grunt!) bit me immediately, and I am not sure I can understand why the pint ($7) and growler ($29) prices do not put the grunt price somewhere around $15, but whatever... this accidental purchase is savory fuel for the night, and the more expensive alternative to SixPoint's Four Beans...
