Jersey Girl Brewing Co. "Sunkissed Citra"
22 fl. oz. can, coded "SUNKISSEDCITRA MCNELSON", sampled on 5 March 2018
$3.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: Very hazy, even cloudy, golden-orange body beneath a full head of fluffy off-white. It looks like a hefeweizen. The aroma is citrusy with orange, and perhaps some other light tropical fruits, and a hint of pine. It's also fairly floral which is nice. The flavor is even brighter, and intensely orange-like. There's some sweetish malt there as well but this is definitely one of the juiciest IPAs I've ever had - wait, this is basically a pale ale now at 5.5% abv, although the label still reads IPA, just to note. There's some light lemon in there as well, and some peach, and a little bit of "dankness" in the back end. It's not at all bitter, probably in the 20-something IBU range or less but it still works and finishes mainly dry and slightly acidic (perhaps due to the residual yeast?). In the mouth it's medium-light in body and gently crisp. Absolutely worth seeking out for fans of the New England IPA style.
