DATE: December 8, 2017... OCCASION: not usually a style to prep for a winter's night, but I had some at the Corner Pub last night, and thought I would investigate more closely... GLASSWARE: Hobgoblin stange... (from an hours-old grunt) pours a crystal clear, clean soft golden body with enough life and bubbles to attract attention... the head evaporates into a thin coastline of off-white pebbles... light, perfumed aroma of flowers, mall cosmetic counter, buttery toast, honey, and hay--quite a natural sensation... first sip is sweet, malty at the finish, and abbreviated in its presence--this is one to sip liberally.... a grape-like flavor pervades the hay, honey and popcorn... the toasted malts blunt the finish, with corn, lilac and sweet biscuit... refreshing and easy-drinking... not a standout. but a serviceable, lightweight local offering...
