Bit of a cardboard smell but the flavor is better. Nice heavily roasted malt with just enough hops to give it some bite. Tastes a bit stronger than the 4.1% indicates.

16 oz can. Pours dark brown with tall, long-lasting, foamy, beige head. Aroma is of toasted malt, toffee and Noble hops. Body is medium and slightly crisp. Taste of toasted malt, toffee and grassy hops. Finish is medium and almost dry. OK brew.

Poured from undated can into a pint glass. It pours a rich mahogany with cola hues and a creamy, light khaki-colored head that dissipated quickly leaving a thin coating lacing. On the nose there is chocolate malt, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, leather, tobacco, and lite char. Sadly, the taste didn't live up to the promise of the smell. It's watery with little of the intriguing aromas. Slightly earthy and bitter with a touch of pepper at the finish. The feel is lite and crisp, as expected for a 4.1% ABV. Overall, Black Diamond doesn't measure up to the better examples of the style. Locally, it's not close to Industrial Arts' Winter Landscape.
