Copenhagen 15/11 2018. 50 cl bottle with swing cap from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh Ø. Drawing of vintage Santa with a bag full of Goodies - including beer - and a starry Night sky in the background.

Pours clear golden yellow with medium-sized white head. Settles as thin almost transparent layer of foam almost covering the surface of the beer. No lacing.

Aroma is malty without being too sweet. Grains, caramel, very light roast. Something moderately bitter lurking in the background.

Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lightly prickly texture.

Flavor is medium sweet followed by a more moderate but noteworthy bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet but intermingling with a moderate but more pronounced bitterness. Lingers shortly.

Not adventurous or very Christmas-like. But I suppose a solid malt base suits a Christmas Beer just fine.

L- Mid amber, clear some rising small-bubble CO2 into a 2Cm very creamy looking pale tan head. Holds well, forms lacing on the way down.
S- Mild for me, just some trad grain and malt.
T- Medium dry, lots of CO2 (taste/feel), some malts there. It's not 'engaging', quite the opposite, even vs typical expectations of a Marzen which can be more subtle than many other styles. I registered that 'roundedness' of flavour that for me = Marzen, but only on the first sip.
F- It has balance I suppose. It's all rather 'middle of the road'.
O- Rather dull I'm sorry to say. Would I buy it again, no, not as a UK import ie quite $$. Would I in Germany, doubtful, there is so much waaay better beer overs there. Sadly it's a quick to forget beer.
Bought from Trembling Madness in York, UK for home delivery. BB: 24/06/2025, 500ml flip-top bottle.

Look - a fancy 500 ml swingtop bottle poured into a tasting glass. dark golden in color, clear, with a large foamy head that mostly dissipates, leaving behind trace lacing. Purchased at supermarket in Hamburg.

Smell - toasted malts, but otherwise not much else. appears to be a typical lager.

Taste - a ton of malts with a tiny bit of honey like sweetness. quite smooth with plenty of malty notes, and finishes clean.

Feel - light bodied, average carbonation, and tastes lighter than the advertised ABV at 5.6%.

Overall - this doesn't remind me anything like a Christmas beer as suggested on the advertisement, but it's quite tasty.

Nov. 2003: 500 ml cool swingtop bottle. Aroma like an average lager, rather weak. Golden colour, good to moderate head. Flavour is well balanced with a herbal character, moderate sweetness and decent hops. Flavour and aftertaste are better than the average lager, but this is definitely not what I want for CHRISTMAS! As a standard lager it passes the test, as a Christmas beer it fails!

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a transparent yellow with a very thin layer of white head. Tons of bubbles rising throughout. Nose is wet hay, bagels, grass, overripe apples, and a touch of honey. The taste is sweet upfront - biscuits and honey. Picking up wheat, oranges, malts, pears, and a touch of banana. Enjoyable, but somewhat normal.

Kulmbacher Brauerei AG "Mönschof Weihnachts Bier"
,5L brown glass swing-top bottle

Notes: Clear deep golden body beneath a full head of frothy white. Very good head retention and lacing. Aroma of grainy malt and grassy hops. The flavor follows. It's fairly matly, and lightly sweetish, but backed by a solid bitterness that balances it and brings it to a dry conclusion assisted by some spicy hops. Medium bodied with a fine-bubbled moderate carbonation.

Clear amber; big head, frothy lacing.
Too carbonated in spite of an aggressive pour (stein glass). Very drinkable due to the clean and well balanced malts and bitterness; bitter in the finish; bit of a bready after-taste. No complexity but satisfying.
