.5L emptied into a Pokal.
A: Pours a clear yellow with a fizzy 1-finger white head which quickly receeds to a thin ring. Sporadic lacing.
S: Wet straw, grain, sweet barley, grassy hops.
M: Thin bodied with decent carbonation.
T: Pale barley malt, weak hop presence. Unnatural sourness is present throughout. Dry finish with a slightly bitter aftertaste.
D: Drinkable, but utterly forgettable. This is the first Upper Austrian beer that I've had that is not up to snuff. Perhaps this beer translates better on tap, seeing as it comes from a Höringer. However, the bottled version doesn't quite make the cut.

Yellow color, almost greenish. Not really compact head, and not really persistent.
In the smell, not too much an the marzen style. Even a point of oxidation.
The taste is even worse. I don't know if there is some corn in it, it shouldn't, but it seems.
In the aftertaste malt, some oxidation, and nothing else.
No.

Pleasantly surprised to find this in late February in a supermarket in the Austrian Alps, it comes in a brown half liter bottle with a green, gold and white label featuring a coast of arms with two jesters, one holding hops, the other barley. I assume adherence to the purity law, although the label makes no such claim. The expiration date was two months away when I popped it open.
Pours a clear gold under a two finger white head with some contour and lace but a disappointingly short life span and little lace. The nose is sweet bready malt with a hint of metallic hop. The mouth is well-carbonated and fairly heavy. The taste is malt, malt, malt - sweet grain and fresh bread dominate, leaving a very smooth impression. A slight hops presence gives a hint of spice and a nice little bitter kick in the aftertaste. Very pleasant brew.
