Funky and fun can announces this as "a lush, creamy blonde ale brewed w/ Sumatran coffee $ Nilgiri tea. Elsewhere on the label, a lactose addition is also mentioned.

Pours a very cloudy, autumnal amber, leaning towards ruddy brown. Tight bubbles race to the surface, where they compile into a thin yet compact head. Not too shabby, but not exactly a blonde ale either.

Aroma is full of sweet butter, coffee, and fresh cream. Vanilla malted milk balls also float on by. A whisper of smoke, perhaps from the tea, hides in the background as well. Maybe the smallest whiff of eucalyptus? Pleasant.

The lightly smoked tea flavor, hinted at before, emerges on the palate with the first sip, followed quickly by a middle wave of milk sugars. Maybe just a touch too much lactose in here. The coffee, robust on the nose, nearly disappears altogether on the tongue. Finish is fairly dry (if slightly acrid), with a lingering taste of coconut left on the tongue. Interesting, but not inspiring.

Mouthfeel is very nice, sufficiently carbonated and silky smooth. Adds nicely to the overall presentation.

A beer definitely worth trying, although I don't know that I'll return for another can. Very much looking forward to what else this folks can come up with.
