New vintage with 65lbs of Huckleberries per barrel... Pours a hazy deep purple with brownish tints... The head is short lived with plenty of purple. Really complex mix of berry flavor and tartness with oaky woody notes that make me think Chardonnay.. much more lacto than bretty, but the brett comes out with warmth... A bunch of stuff going on with this one... Contemplative sipper.

What the hell is a Huckleberry?
3/7/14 Served on tap at World of Beer Cherry Creek
I am not quite sure what to make of this beer. It was different after every sip constantly evolving. The flavors were all over touching on sweet huckleberry, tart raspberries, oak, coriander, you could taste the wheat body. I know there isn't much of this around but this beer instantly is in my top 5 favorite American sours. Search it out wherever you can find it.

amazing beer, the best grand teton has done so far. a boisterous pink color with a ton of soda bubbles rising into a big white pearly head. aromatics of fresh berries both sweet and tart, like a pie. with a wheat malt base and funky yeast that is only a little sour in the smell. tart berries are the first thing i taste, with notes of grassy wheat and barnyard stink, in a good way. the fruit is minimally sweet, and as such the tartness just rocks me, drying acidity and a ton of fruit flavor without anything left in the finish. i get some oak in this too, mellowing with earthy dankness, and there is some chardonnay tannic push left in here too, which in combination with the sour and the bubbles makes a really cool experience. the effervescent carbonation makes this one sing, and the huckleberry flavor is unique to me, we dont get much of those here, so to have it so vivid in this wonderful sour beer is a real treat for my palate. light and drinkable, i wish this was commercially available all the time, i think its one of my favorite beers in the early runnings of 2014 so far, and is about as good as any fruited sour on the market. i didnt know grand teton made these, so i hope they keep moving in this direction. this is absolutely bomb!
