Bottle from HomeBrewStuff. Nicely aged.. Plums, pit fruit and brown sugar. Nice feel, sweet, molasses and brown sugar. Aging seems to smoothed this out. Nice.

750 ML, dated 2014.
This is a beer I wanted to like. It was a good quad/barleywine, but the finish on it was sometimes awkward (not always, and I don't know why).

Bottle pulled from the fridge to share with the geeks tonight... Pours clear mahogany... firm head with good lacing... Big dry toast with light Belgian phenolics with balanced light raisin and hints of dried cherries... Medium light body seems to be more in style with the trappist quads than the heavier continental BSDAs.... Pretty interesting... Much better than I remember it... Hope to see a limited run of this aged in barrels ;-)

2014 vintage. Bottled on 10/15/14.
Pours a murky dark orange-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy patches of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toast, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, dark fruit, and spice aromas. Taste is much the same with caramel, toffee, dark fruit, and metallic flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of earth bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer with nice aromas, but the metallic quality I am getting in the taste somewhat diminishes the drinkability for me.
Serving type: bottle.
