On tap in Boise ID; served in a snifter. 2015 vintage.
A: Nearly jet-black with a little light showing at the edges of the glass; minimal off-khaki head, no lacing.
S: Sweet whiskey and caramel mostly; rounded out with oaky char and roasted malt, with hints of chocolate and peanut butter, but the caramel & vanilla lead the charge.
T: Leads with sweetness and finishes with the smallest impression of heat. Whiskey barrel character is forefront but at this age, the brew isn’t boozy. Lots of that underlying charry character, plenty of dark malt to balance...hints of chocolate and even dark fruit.
MF: Sticky, drying, and full; not massive or viscous, but good.
O: Loved it; barrel-treatments on traditional GT brews that I’ve drank forever are pretty fun.

On tap at butcher and the boar
Tan head. Dark brown black color.
I like the Jack Daniels whiskey flavors with this beer. Nice change from bourbon. Oaky. Chocolate. Caramel.
Medium bodied. Could be thicker.
Solid offering from grand Teton.

Growler style, $24.99 at Liquor Shed.
It pours a pitch black with a small tan foam that dissipates quickly leaving the tiniest bit of lacing behind.
I get a lot of roasted malt and whiskey in the smell. Also hints of dark fruit and chocolate.
The taste...I love! Supreme balance between the strongly roasted malt and the whiskey. It's so cool that the barrel aging did not completely take over the flavour. Bitterness level is very low whilst a certain level of sweetness that I really dig. Definitely getting of a bit of port like what you gets in an aged UK Old Ale, which is an added plus.
Lighter on the dark fruits than what I get in the smell. There's some toffee here but very little chocolate, unless that's what's adding to the sweet factor.
Close to full bodied if not so, it has a very creamy mouthfeel.
This is a home run in my book!
