had no idea they did a coffee version of this, let alone on nitro, simple a gorgeous specimen! on tap at tap n fill out in idaho falls, those guys always have some awesome stuff flowing. this is matte black like a guinness, with an insanely white head by contrast, an inch high, thick as shaving cream, nitro cascading, lasting creaminess, stunning visually, and i enjoy looking at it about as much as i like drinking it, beer porn in every sense of the term! the nose is a little muted on this, which i seem to always think of nitro beers, i smell bitter dark drip coffee, but with very little nuance, maybe something about this gas masks the aroma a bit, still roasty and delicious though. the somewhat dulled aroma makes the flavor pop that much more once it gets to my palate, huge and strong coffee character, dark and bitter with lots of roast, comes first. some middling chocolate malt, minerals and rocks like coal and slate, cold wet and earthen, no sweetness from any malt here at all, even less than i ever recall from the original, although its been awhile, but none of this is needed and the coffee doesnt make it too bitter or acidic at all, its somehow balanced even without that element, which is maybe the most impressive part of this. subtle chicory, black pepper, and burnt biscuit, and shockingly smooth from the nitro, which stays in suspension well here. very well hidden alcohol as well, just masterfully crafted beer. i adored this, and hope to see it in bottles at some point! a special edition of a classic!

On at The Office in Casper. Nitro but doesn't have the nitro plastic thingy you see on a Guinness, so true nitro? Maybe not. Pours black with nearly no head of foam. Loads and I mean loads of coffee in the smell. Over powers the roasted malt but this IS a coffee stout.. Strength of coffee migrates to the taste. Wake up and taste the coffee. Brilliant flavours Super smooth, really a gem, hidden, of coffee stouts.
