a tasty wet hop beer from these guys, done with cascade as well apparently, despite the name. crystal clear from the tap, golden and brassy toned, with some rising bubbles and an average white head on it, very bright and appealing visually. the aroma is bursting with the hops, the freshness is evident, and the spiciness of the cascade comes through in a cool way with the pine and intense concentrated citrus of the simcoe, a classic and timeless combination, and they do their thing together well in a wet hop brew like this. they were smart to keep the grain simple, too many of these beers this fall have been overly malty at the expense of the hop nuance, which can be harder to get out of wet ones than pellets it seems sometimes, so its nice to have this taste and feel a little lighter and drier on the grain side, the hops pop that way without having to be over the top to stand out, and it seems balanced enough to me anyway with a little oily character from the wet hops beefing it up some in the texture. some bitter orange here, a little vegetal greenness, wet pine, and even pineapple which sort of comes up out of nowhere. some light grassiness as well that lingers with the oils at the end, danky and highly pungent without being weedy, fresh as heck. really good overall, nice to have a couple of new ones from these guys lately, it has seemed like the same old stuff for awhile now, so this was a treat.
