Taster at Bittercreek. Pale, clear golden, skimpy head leaves lots of lacing. Soft hoppy aroma. Taste too comes in very subdued, but the overall feel is wonderful. Feels like a session, but its 7%

this is the first grand teton brew i have seen in a pint can i am pretty sure, different looking branding for them too, but glad to see some more innovation too, their new stuff has been good lately. this one has a lot of heft to it, starchy feeling, heavy handed on the hopping, and seems just a tad disjointed to me, less refined than their best beers, but bold and assertive and sure to appeal to those who just want to get kicked in the teeth with hops. this has some pellet character on my tongue, vegetal and green and a little more bite than it needs, that sort of oversaturated burn on the swallow, but its not offensive, and there is enough malt for there to be some balance still, albeit more of a raw earthy wheaty type base than any crystal barley malt. as it warms i get some tropical element, a touch of fruity sweetness in the middle, but each sip still closes green and bitter. this is sort of a style bender, fusing elements of multiple ipa types into one beer, but to me its not as cohesive as it could be, and its almost surprising, i expect so much from grand teton that anything other than amazing is sort of a let down. ill try this one again, but it seems like a work still in progress at this point...

16oz canned 1/28 poured into a can-shaped nonic.
A: Pale gold with a fluffy white head and decent lacing; mild chill haze.
S: Earthy and piney with a subtle tropical/coconut vibe and melon rind.
T: Leans more bitter and earthy, which isn't what I expected but does follow the nose; malt, grain, pine, bitterness. Mild tropical notes, generic.
MF: Dryer-bodied and moderate lingering bitterness.
O: An OK IPA, doesn't do much for me, but not terrible.
