very tasty and approachable fresh hop ipa, almost mellow enough to be in the pale ale range, these guys are doing a nice job with the hoppy beers of late. this is unfiltered looking but not thick and hazy, sunny golden colored, frothy white inch of head from the tap, it looks pretty much exactly how i want it to. i dont know what hops they used, but it doesnt come across as radical or experimental or anything to me, could be mosaic, simcoe, maybe strata, its not way complex or challenging, but its mighty fresh, retaining its oily essence and from the field pungency, light pine, wet grass, meyer lemon, and maybe mango, not sweet or overly juicy, but hinting a little tropical despite its obvious northwestern identity. the flavor is even better than the nose, basic as it gets on the malt side so the hops really pop, and i like them leaving just a little sweetness in here to sort of extend the hops, smart call. bitter orange up front, fruity sativa, pine resin, but nothing too intense, this remains massively drinkable. the bitterness is low, the freshness is evident, and this is a nice way to highlight high quality ingredients very simply, i could have made a day of drinking pints of this. medium bodied at the most, some body seems to come from the oils of the hops themselves, a hint of mandarin orange as it warms up, an herbal layer too, really good overall!
