Inflatablechair pulled out this growler the night before the RIS tasting.... Thanks Sammy! I've had this one a couple times at Bittercreek, but never took the time to review it.

Pours with a descent tan head... good lacing atop a pretty much black brew.

Nose shows a pretty standard American Porter.. thankfully without the promised abundant spices :-)

Flavor has the juniper and nutmeg... a bit of minor citrus zest shows among the cocoa and dart malts... this brew is actually pretty dry and keeps the spices hidden.. cinnamon still raises up ...

Cool to get a nice pour again.. but I am just not digging the overall product. A lite porter across the board with the spices that should be shining, but I am glad they aren't. I like the concept and hope to go along on the bus next year or next time.

This Porter is smooth with a nice tan head and tastes of spice and something sweet. It is one of the better Porters in my opinion.

The smell is of spice and honey

It was made in limited quantity for the Boise Idaho market so don't get attached to it as it will be gone soon

On tap, Front Door in Boise, ID.

Served in a mug looking great; very dark brown with reflections of red around the edges of the glass. Good tan head and good lacing throughout.

Smell: Slightly taken-aback...not really porterish. There are malts and vanilla, but also some Quad-like dark fruit smells, carmel and spices. Not a traditional porter but still, it smells good.

Taste is a porter with spiciness, as the spices and bitters cling to your tongue and cheeks. The malt is there, but not in a smoky/toasty/roasted way. The spices remind me a lot of a seasonal Winter Warmer, but as it warms more Porter characteristics emerge.

MF is creamy and smooth, and the beer has a drying affect on my mouth.

Drinkability is just ok, not a bad beer but I wanted more dark, roasted Porter flavors.
