i know they have an double ipa by the same name, but this rice lager just came out under it as well, and its very good, one of the better lager types ive had from these guys, super refined and light, but also very flavorful, an excellent thirst quencher without just being beer flavored beer, and nice for spring too, had it on tap but it would make a fine addition to their can lineup in my opinion, really solid execution here. there is a nice fresh herbal nose to this, some unique hop character although not conventionally hoppy as such, maybe something there from the rice too, like jasmine, certainly fits the season, lager yeast is mellow but apparent, and the minerality is nice, tight and clean all around, subtle pils type charactery malt obviously, pale barley and the rice together, good proportions. the flavor is great too, fresh like the nose, floral and herbal up front with an almost white tea element about it, definitely the rice makes an impact on more than just the light texture, light almost honey sweetness for just a second with a more familiar pils malt note, but then so dry and tidy on the swallow, refreshing for sure, airy feeling and easy, balanced and not at all bland or simplistic, would love to know a little more about the beer, but its an outdoor drinker and a good one, very professionally lagered, lively feeling, and a beer i hope to see around more and more as the weather continues to turn nice, makes me happy, primo patio beer right here! great job guys. seems like a good reuse of the name too...
