A 330ml can with a BB of May 2018. Purchased recently from Trembling Madness in York. The label describes it as a West coast red ale hopped with Columbus, Chinook and Mosaic.
A: Poured into a tulip. Can-conditioned. A hazy reddish-marmalade colour with fine suspended sediment and good carbonation. Yields a decent head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a moment or so before subsiding to a frothy surface layer. Some lacing.
S: Aroma of fruity hops with hints of citrus zest, peel, tropical fruit, white grape, melon, mild grass, caramel malt, a touch of grain and ale yeast. Slightly yeasty but nice balance.
T: Tastes of fruity aromatic hops with notes of mild grapefruit, citrus, peel, tropical fruit, melon, grass/hay, caramel malt, subtle grain, ale yeast and earthiness. Fairly dry, followed by a substantial hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and good body. Mildly astringent; hop oils stimulate the palate. Aftertaste of fruity aroma hops, citrus, tropical fruit, herbal bitterness, caramel malt and ale yeast.
O: Lovely - a quality red ale. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour are replete with fruity hops, caramel malt and ale yeast. Good body. Very drinkable; goes down a treat. Well worth sampling if you have the chance.
