Imperial Stout with Pistachio and Honeycomb, brewed in collaboration with our friends from Uiltje Brewing Co.

Back in 2018, we got together with our pals at Uiltje Brewing Co and brewed something special. The resulting Woodland Creatures, our milk stout with Pistachio and Honeycomb, has become a firm favourite with you and us.
This time last year, we decided to take Woodland Creatures to the next level and brew an amped up imperial version. After all that has happened since then, we are proud to be presenting King Of The Woodland to you once again.

The grist, made up mainly of Maris Otter and Carafa III welcomes a generous helping of Cinder Toffee and lactose in the boil, creating a rich and roasty, yet sweet and indulgent malt base. The addition of Pistachio extract, introduced post-fermentation, adds depth and completes the flavour profile.

2/3 draft at LHG. Dark brown pour, skin of beige head. Rich, sweet aroma, nutty, caramel. Taste gets better, honey and pistachio really popping, chocolate, sweet and some ABV. Good feel. Nice.

440ml can.
L: Black with a long-lasting tan head that leaves spotty lacing.
S: Huge marzipan aroma.
T: Cadbury’s Old Jamaica rum & raisin but extra sweet and boozy as hell (and with added green pistachio excess).
F: Rich, decadent and extra smooth with a hot alcohol finish.
O: A massively alcoholic imperial milk stout. Drunk at cellar temperature, the flavours are bold and luxurious, like a liquid rum baba. A dessert beer which, at this ABV, would be better sold in 250ml rather than 440ml. It’s proper knockout juice.

#1776 - Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country...
L- Pours dark, held up to daylight by a window none gets through. 2mm very dark-tan head fading soon...
S- Milk powder, cocoa, coffee, plus a major vanilla note (surely added). Clearly a statement, but one that bodes well? I'm not born for majorly off the trad piste, so death or glory down the black run follows, as surely as when on the piste...
T- OMG. Milky alright, big rich cocoa, coffee, then off into a choco-dessert-liquor aspect that reminds me of a small cake we used to occasionally have in the late 70s called 'Rum truffles'. On which note I wonder what happened to them... There is a mega liquor note in this, and as I'm not a liquor drinker I always find such stupidly hard to ID. I'll wildly guess that it is indeed rum barrel aged! It seems a bit more aromatic that say a whisky/brandy... though the (surely) added vanilla adds aroma too...
F- I served this straight from the fridge, and thank heavens. I clearly get the milk-stout richness. The choco+vanilla are only going to grow as it warms.
O- *Don't linger with this* that's my tip. A) It's unsubtle fridge cold B) It's a really slow sipping beer so you have to take it sloooow C) When this warms up just a touch too near room-temp it is going to be a lethal liquor-weapon of a beer.
Review/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the bottle lables to see what I missed! 'Imperial stout with pistachio and honeycomb'. Ingreds: include
