Appearance: A bit of a gusher from the can so when it pours out, it takes a while for the head to dissipate into a tan film over the dark chocolate colored liquid; splotchy lacing

Smell: Farmhouse funk with a leathery aspect blended with a smoked dark malt character

Taste: The smoky, chocolate and coffee character lays out, with the leathery farmhouse funk building, through the middle; a lot of phenolic elements, in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with high carbonation

Overall: I probably shouldn't have sat on this one for 18 months but the Brett has overtaken here and the beer may no longer be what the brewer intended

Thanks, TravisMason, for the opportunity

16 ounce can into a tulip snifter. Canned 11/17/16, had 3/2/17.

Pours near black, opaque, with a two inch head of thick darker foam, and thick foamy lacing. Very good retention. Smells of coffee, roasted malt, Belgian yeast, some chocolate and smoke, light Brett, light black pepper in head. Tastes of lighter malt than nose, coffee, some caramel and chocolate, light vanilla, a bit of an odd flavor at first. Good amount of bitterness up front and at the finish, a hint of smoke. Don’t really get the Brett in the flavor. Smooth, fairly creamy, a good, medium body, good level of carbonation.

This is nice, it grows on you throughout the can. Wish the coffee was stronger in the flavor, and the Brett is minor everywhere, but it’s solid. Worth a try.

A - Super dark, oily opaque body with dark reddish brown highlights, full persistent brown head, sticky edges, definite lacing.

S - Roast and yeast, producing a dough starter note, baking bread and a complementing coffee element.

T - Taste opens with the yeast elements, dark fruit and plums, raisins, a middle with semisweet chocolate and cocoa, and a close with a strong bitter and ash back-end, hints of limestone, and coffee acidity. Runs a range of stout flavors, but mingles these with a Belgian character.

M - Open is slick and full. The middle is warm and dry, the close acidic and slightly chalky.

O - This is an interesting journey. I've had a number of Belgian Darks that hit many of these notes, but that thread mingles with more traditional chocolate and coffee aspects of a stout, drawn from the rich roast and toasty malts. Solid.

Pours jet black with 2 finger khaki brown head on nitro. Aroma- vanilla, a bit of earthiness. Otherwise a stout, bit of dark malt, chocolate. Taste-hint of coffee, dark chocolate, some bitterness with those flavors. It's smoky. Has a little bit of a pudding taste. Very smooth velvety mouthfeel. Overall, very nice stout. Earthy and bitter. Certainly a little different.

This is a really interesting beer that is different from any other stout I've had. The brett adds a unique layer to it.

The appearance is dark brown and it poured with a big and frothy tan head.

The aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, Brett earthy funk, and dark fruits.

The taste is chocolate, dark fruit, roast malt and the brett earthiness. A hint of funk comes through as well.

The palate is medium with a dry finish from the brett. The flavors linger well.

Overall this is a very unique beer that is not overtly sour but has a good mix of the stout and brett notes.

Dark brownish black with a large head of mocha foam that lasts awhile, forming a halo of chunky, drippy lace.
Good retention with unbroken surface skim, even after a few sips.

Aroma has an oddly metallic twang, Brett yeast is there but not funky. Dried dark berries, chalky roast malt, mild coffee.
Taste is dry and roasty, with dried berry, bakers chocolate, and traces of coffee. Faint metallic note, not distracting.
Medium bodied and fairly creamy, lightly peppery with a moderately bitter finish.
Overall this is pretty good stuff, the Brett is subdued but adds a nuanced layer of complexity to it.
