16oz can, served in a pint glass. Pours a medium lighter pink body, one finger white head, short retention, a fair bit of lacing. Smell is cranberry, citrus, a bit of burnt rubber, light saltiness, a bit of lemon and wheat. It smells like a slightly rubbery margarita. Flavour is a bit more of that burnt rubber, dry citrusy lemon/lime, a bit of salt, less of the cranberry. Mouthfeel is lighter bodied, slightly watery, still dry and refreshing. A solid fruited gose, but it is missing a few components that would make it even better.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 12/5/2017. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy reddish/pinkish orange color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Nice spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tart/tangy cranberry, fruit skin, lemon, lime, citrus zest, peach, pear, melon, green apple, white grape, sea salt, hay, straw, grass, wheat, and cracker; with light notes of pepper, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, fruit, sea salt, and light-moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart/tangy cranberry, fruit skin, lemon, lime, citrus zest, peach, pear, melon, green apple, white grape, sea salt, hay, straw, grass, wheat, and cracker; with light notes of pepper, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy cranberry, fruit skin, lemon, lime, citrus zest, peach, pear, melon, green apple, white grape, sea salt, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, pepper, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, fruit, sea salt, and light-moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/tartness and tangy fruit balance; with zero puckering flavors after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from tartness, tangy fruit, and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light body; with a very smooth, moderately grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic, and lightly saline balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 5.9%. Overall this is an excellent gose! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, fruit, sea salt, and light-moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink; with the modestly acidic/tangy/drying finish, not overly lactic. Perfectly balanced fruits and Lacto complexity; solid pale/wheat malts against acidity, not overly salty. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Pours a light pink ruby color. Slightly cloudy. Very fizzy white head dissipates quickly. However there is a tight splotch of fizzy bubbling bubbles in the center of the beer that continues for some time.

Aroma has strong notes of lime, cranberries, lactic acid, and saltwater. Its very tart on the nose as the aroma alone produces a strong puckering sensation.

Taste is initially not quite as tart as the nose would imply. You get a nice wheat malt backbone with some graininess coming through. Hints of lime and cranberry dance across the palate providing some tartness. The overall acidic tartness does build and the flavors pass over the palate ending with a strong salty lime aftertaste that puckers the mouth - there is that tartness from the nose coming through. Much more acidic and tart than a standard gose ale.

Feel is light and refreshing. Tartness builds towards a full on puckering finish. It builds those rather than punching you in the mouth up front. Somewhat dry finish.

Not a traditional gose by any means, but a damn good beer. This would be a fantastic hot weather beer. I look forward to revisiting this beer again.

Poured 16oz can into snifter. A very bright scarlet rose color with a pillowy 2 finger white head. Retention is very good with spotty lacing all over my glass. Aroma is fresh lemons and limes with some cranberry juice and sea water from teh saline. The flavor is light with tart lemons and cranberry juice. The lime and salt hints are a nice touch for the tartness of the beer. Mouthfeel is clean, refreshing and finishes tart and salty. This was quite enjoyable and would be an excellent thirst quencher on a hot summer day.

A - Pink body, mildly hazy, but still some transparency, short white head, quick to fade, and minimal white lacing.

S - Smart acidity, lactic and sharp, with just a hint of funk.

T - Opens with tart fruity lactic qualities, bright cranberry acidity, a yogurty middle, and a lingering sour bite in the close.

M - Brisk, with a very tart core, and a mildly acidic fade.

O - An aggressively acidic Gose that is both tasty and lush, offering a combination of bright fruity notes and a core that remains true to the more traditional approach to the style.

Wasn’t really convinced on the first one but the second changed my mind. Tart cranberry/lime and heavy salt are very obvious. Makes me want to look for more! Central state makes great sour beer....

Why do all of our reptiles now have lasers? Regardless, the sour segment of Central State's brewhouse unleashes this beast of a beer; a northern german styled sour wheat ale that's fashioned with the tools of cranberry and lime.

Mauve in color and foggy with haze, the ale looks much like fruit smoothie before crowning with a spritzy short froth. Tart fruits that circulate around citrus, cider, berry and wine tease the nose before the first sip charms the early palate with a light pastry-like breadiness and the sour sweetness of saltwater taffy.

More sour than the typical gose, the use of cranberry and lime take the sour ale to a higher acidity that what the ale would achieve on its own. Lemon, lime and a hint of grapefruit quickly turn to the taste of crabapple, dry french cider and the spiciness of sour white grape. Cranberries bring their own sourness with a slightly robust red taste before the beer trends lightly earthy with hints of burlap and yogurt on the late palate.

Light in body, the beer's racy carbonation and supreme sourness keeps the session light, crisp, clean and highly refreshing from start to finish. Its light salinity provides a pep of roundness on the middle but goes largely unnoticed. A brief aftertaste of berry, apple and sourdough play softly in a brief afterglow.

Definitely one of the better Gose-style beers I have had. Light and effervescent. Fruity, salty, limey. Tart cranberries compliment to medium acid burn. Body and bubble are perfect. Finish is dry and crisp. Very well executed.

Pastel milky pinkish red with a quickly dying bubbly white blanket leaving nothing behind.

This is really sour for a Gose, with the attributes of tart cranberry and lime not being shy to come to the fore and make an almost full on wild out of the usually tamer style.

16 oz. can. Pink, hazy body. Lightly pink head. Settles out quickly. Smells of cranberry, lime, intense acidity. Almost smells like a kombucha the way it hits the sinuses. Tastes salty, limey, then some fruity cranberry that dries out quickly leaving an intense sourness. It's quite sour. Light body. Sourness hits you in the nose. It's almost refreshing, but it's just too sour to be easily consumed. The cranberry and lime work well together, though.
