We've embraced "Midwest Exotic" as a way to describe the people here in the heartland working to change everyone's perception of flyover country. For this beer we took the concept a bit more literally. Indiana-grown malt, Citra hops, and a bunch of pineapple and guava fruit give this beer an exotic tropical twist.

Pours light golden straw. Slightly clear, little chill haze. half a pinky head on it. Aroma-slightly skunky, slightly sugary, grass. Could be confused for an adjunct lager. Taste- again very much a pilsener/adjunct lager taste. Grassy, all the pineapple/guava is right up front and quickly is overcame by that lager sensation. Lasting bitterness. Mouthfeel- light with medium carbonation. Overall-this really doesn't follow through with what it says it is 'IPA with pineapple and guava.'

Pours a light yellow, cloudy and with good lacing. The guava leads the way here on both the nose and the flavor profile, too strong by half in my opinion. At the same time, the distinctive guava flavor pairs with a strong hop bitterness to throw this off compared to Central State's other new IPA releases, Oatsplosion and Chester. This is the weakest of the three, by far. Not poorly executed by any means, but I don't get much of the pineapple, I don't get much malt balance, and it simply doesn't lean towards my preferred tastes for IPAs.
