Double Dry-Hopped Hazy India Pale Ale — New Money vs. Old Money. A Rivalry that spans the ages. The Old guard holding onto tradition. The new kids trying to break down walls and redefine norms. This beer is firmly planted in the new. Brewed with malted Indiana oats and aggressively double dry-hopped with Mosaic, Hull Melon, and Simcoe hops this beer is anything but old school.

Slightly brownish orange color, if that’s a thing. Great citrus nose and lacing is great. Taste was good but not great. Love the background feel of bitterness.

Pours a murky orange with a hint of opaque white-orange at the edges. Head is two fingers of white foam that retains okay. Aroma is tangerine, guava, papaya, and orange zest with bready, earthy malts beyond. Tropical fruits and citrus are sweet and somewhat light, and are balanced out well by malts. Flavor profile is tangerine, papaya, orange and lemon zest, with biscuity, earthy, bready malts and baker's yeast. Balance is well centered, leaning more towards hops, but still balanced considering the style. Mouth feel is medium in thickness with a smooth, creamy texture that imparts just a touch of grain. Overall, a splendid IPA that mingles hops and malts together well. It's smooth and almost 'glass-like', but still imparts good flavor and feeling.

Served in a 15.5oz Speigalau tulip from a 16oz can.

Opaque, hazy, dark orange. Little head.

Wonderfully hoppy aroma: brightly herbal, tart, and juicy.

Palate is strangely sharp, almost sour, with an unexpected bitterness. It’s good and quite drinkable, but also a bit strange.

Very lively, smooth, and wonderfully drinkable. Semi dry finish with lingering hops and bitterness, really inviting another sip. A touch watery.

16 ounce can into tulip glass; no can dating, but was just released. Pours opaquely hazy golden/orange/amber color with a 1 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, strawberry, blueberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, biscuit dough, light honey/toast, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, strawberry, blueberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, biscuit dough, light honey/toast, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very mild pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, orange juice, grapefruit, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, strawberry, blueberry, citrus peel/zest, light pepper/pine, biscuit dough, light honey/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt flavors; with a solid malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and slightly sticky mouthfeel that is fantastic. Minimal warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is an outstanding NEIPA, All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the minimally bitter/drying finish, amazingly soft feel. Amazing Mosaic, Hull melon, Simcoe profile as expected. Extremely juicy, and lightly dank/earthy hops; perfect oat/malt balance, not overly sweet from lingering dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
