On-tap at Local Brewing Company, San Francisco, CA
A: The beer is slightly hazy clear dark red it color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high off white head that died down, leaving a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of Belgian candi sugar are present in the nose along with hints of dark fruits.
T: The taste has flavors of candi sugars—although without the much of the sweetness that you would normally expect—and hints of dark fruits (cherries stand out in particular).
M: It feels just about medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There is a little amount of smoothness.
O: This beer isn't as sweet as fruity compared to other dubbels that I've had, but its lower alcohol content makes its easy to drink compared to other beers in the style.
