i like something a little different in the style here, and thats what this is, although i did want a little more from this beer, and honestly most of them here, for how much attention they are getting, for how darn busy it was, and for how many of their tap handles i have started to see around town, i expected all of the beer would be great, and really it was pretty middling. this is cool because its light in body, not souped up with a bunch of malt, and it also has some definite bitterness to it, its way less sweet than we usually get in one of these fall spice beers, and i like that a lot. its most of the usual suspects on the spice side, but well balanced and maybe with a little cardamom or something with the cinnamon and clove character, rusty in color but without much crystal malt character. a little pepper, a little belgian ester too which is odd enough, and thena fast finish for the style, relatively drinkable but i think the flavors are kind of polarizing, and the little bit of acidity that works its way in with the bitterness seems out of place to me, tannic in a weird way, although i like this more than i dislike it. i wouldnt drink more than one of them, but like a lot of the beers in here, its close to being very good, just not quite all the way dialed in yet.
