this has all the makings of a nice example of the style, a type of beer i really like to drink this time of year too, but the lack of refinement in this, and so many of their others, is really inexcusable at this point. its murky and dense looking, full of sediment and muted and dull, really unappealing in the glass, especially without any head. no reason for this, a total turnoff. the aroma and flavor are nice though, nice darker wheat, a german yeast strain, a little clove spice for the fall, and even a red apple cider thing that i really like, a touch sweet but that works in this style most of the time, and lots of body from the wheat too. i wish it had some carbonation though, this is a style i really want to sing, and this is pretty dead on the tongue, a shame because they did a good job with the flavor, balanced between yeast and malts, but it almost ruins the beer and really heavies it up. not sure whats going on with these seemingly obvious refinements in here, so many of their beers, like this, are close to awesome but lack a certain something. in this case its bubbles. good not great at this stage, but i am glad they made it, not enough of these in american craft right now...
