I am sampling a lightly chilled 16 oz can poured into my dimple mug. I picked up this can during a visit to Montreal in the summer and this can has been in my cellar since we returned home.
There is no date stamp on the can or label. But assume it was relatively fresh at the Annex location where I purchased it.
The beer pours a bright clear golden color with a few lazy streams of carbonation rising to the surface. A frothy bleached white head foams up about 1 cm and fades fairly quickly to a weak edging. Only a little scattered lattice on swirls and sips.
Aroma is some mild grainy malt and a bit of a scone type smell. I maybe have some light floral hop note, but overall the nose is very mild. Certainly not boozy.
First sip reveals a light body and smooth texture, bordering on watery as the beer is very drinkable. Carbonation is fine and tingly.
Flavor is also grainy malt and a little bit of sweetness, again biscuity or scone flavor for me. Not really much else going on complexity wise and the finish is pretty dry, encouraging me to take another sip.
This is a very drinkable beer and Im enjoying its simplicity, seems a solid example of the style.
