Calusa Snifter
Gold with chill haze, small head of 1/2 finger, a small bubbly ring after a few seconds. No lacing.
Aroma of slight orange lifesavers, some tangerine, some grapefruit. Very faint.
Flavor comes across much more like a regular pale ale, and that's what I thought about categorizing it as but the ABV was certainly out of that realm. Some wheat, some general graininess, with orange, orange peel, pink grapefruit, and slight orange candy.
Feel is crisp and semi-creamy, some heavy resins and starches, more doughy than pleasant, and has a mild to moderate alcohol burn.
Overall, a high ABV beer that tastes and drinks like a low one. This could pass as a halfway decent Wisconsin/Illinois IPA but you'd expect it to be around the 6% mark. Just doesn't have the flavor to be above that.
