On tap at Dewey Beer Co, Dewey Beach, Delaware.
Pours a markedly turbid beige color. The pour yielded no head, instead, an ultra thin ring lacing that surrounded half the surface.
A fruity nose evokes notes of pear, watermelon, grapefruit and assorted tropical fruit. Beyond the fruity bouquet, strong herbal aromas develop, with notes of pine, dank and moist dewy grass.
The taste opens tangy and juicy with notes of orange juice, grapefruit, melon, white grape and pear supported by creamy oats. Yet, the sweetness was not as strong as anticipated, instead, moderate and slightly muted. A developing grassy and piny spice balances the fruity flavors, while there is some resiny bitterness in the finish.
Full bodied with a frothy and soft mouthfeel, and gentle carbonation. Very hops forward with a neutral malt flavor, yet the malt texture is firm and chewy.
The brewery lists it as a DIPA, even though it has elements of NEIPA. Whatever the classification, it is quite flavorful and fun to drink.
**** Adjusting ratings as I have tried this again a year later and taken notes, not having realized I had already had it.
Previous scores were:
Look- was a 3.75 before not sure why. I upgraded the score to 4.
Aroma- was a 4.25. This time I picked up a lot of juicy tropical fruit, particularly pineapple, mango and lots of coconut. I loved the aroma and upgraded it to 4.5.
Taste- was 4, now upgrading to 4.25
Mouthfeel- was 4, now upgrading to 4.25
Overall- was 4.25, now 4.5. I simply enjoyed this so much more the 2nd time around.
