From the can it pours a dark raspberry color; very pretty! A dense and foamy pink head retains well.
The nose opens with fruity notes of blueberry and currants and evokes tartness. However, it is the developing sweet aroma of marshmallows that soon becomes, for me, the signature of this beer; and likewise for the flavor.
Refreshingly tart but not mouth puckering, very accessible and with fruity flavors of blueberry and currant. The pillowy and fluffy softness of the marshmallow adds a sugary sweetness and velvety smoothness to the mouthfeel. Medium bodied with gentle carbonation. I also detect flavors of raspberry and plain yogurt. The soda like finish is refreshing with a hint of fruity and lime tartness.
Honestly, fruited sours are not my favorite style. However, this one was delicious and perhaps my favorite. It was the marshmallow-ironically something I’m not a big fan of- that added a special touch.
