From the can it pours a hazy golden orange color. A moderately large head displays good retention.
The nose is all about its sizable fruity hops profile. It opens with citrusy aromas that evoke freshly squeezed orange juice, tangerine and grapefruit. This is supported by soft notes of tropical fruit including mango, guava and passion fruit. Developing herbal aromas of grass and peppery hops are coupled with increasingly bright and lightly acidic notes of lemon, lime and kiwi.
Juicy and hops forward with a soft and creamy oats and biscuity malt backbone. Yet, despite the plethora of fruity flavors, it is not overly sweet, as the palate is balanced by soft peppery and grassy hops spices and a mild hops bitterness. Flavors include orange juice, grapefruit rind, mango, papaya, guava, hints of lime and passion fruit. Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. The juiciness is dry and only moderately sweet and alternates between a tangy, zesty and soft texture. The finish is juicy, dry and slightly sticky.
This is one of the better IPAs I’ve had from Dewey Beer Co in a while. It has a very flavorful fruity hops profile yet with a soft, dry and accessible mouthfeel that makes for smooth drinking.
