From the crowler, it poured a motor oil black color, thick and viscous, with a rapidly dissipating head.
Sweet aromas of marshmallow, milk chocolate, fudge, dark caramel and lactose sugar. The malt smells nutty and biscuity.
Very sweet taste with notes of marshmallow, lactose, dark fruit and milk chocolate. Notes of doughy biscuity and nutty malts with lots of caramel and toffee. What I’m missing is that roasty espresso like bitterness that I like in an imperial stout.
Full bodied, creamy and pillowy soft. The finish is sticky and wet with caramel and dark fruit sweetness. The carbonation is quite gentle and contributes to it being a bit of a chore to drink.
Too sweet for me overall. I suppose it might do ok as a dessert beer, but it’s cloyingness doesn’t really make it ideal as a stand alone beer. Not my favorite Dewey Beer Co offering.
