Pours a raspberry color turbid liquid, looking like a combination of chilled fruit concentrate and sangria. A modest head soon dissipates. Despite the murkiness of this beer, the carbonation is visible.
The aroma has a sweet tartness aided by fruit adjuncts and graham cracker like malt. It is redolent of lemon merengue and key lime pie. Strong fruity aromas of blueberry raspberry and strawberry all throughout.
The taste is both fruity and tart with a fluffy soft and marshmallow like mouthfeel that feels like cotton candy. Candied fruit flavors of strawberry, blueberry, raspberry and kiwi combine with the tart notes of lemon, lime and lactobacillus; tastes like tart skittles. Finely balanced and not too mouth puckering in its tartness, as the solid malt backbone evokes sweet notes of pie crust and graham cracker. Medium bodied with a moderate carbonation and a creamy pie like mouthfeel. The finish is dessert like sweet yet refreshing in its tart linger.
Although not a huge fan of fruited sours, I like what Dewey Beer Co does with this Secret Machine series. I particularly enjoyed this tasty iteration.
