From the can, it pours a pitch black motor oil color. A frothy tan head, modest in size, but retains well. It leaves thick rings of lacing.
The nose is sweet with rich aromas of chocolate, cherry, dark fruit and a touch of coffee. Additional aromatic notes of caramel, nutty and dark toasted malts, and woodsy hops.
Full bodied, smooth and very mouth coating. The gentle carbonation supports the creamy malts. Sweet throughout with notes of milk chocolate fudge, dark chocolate, dark fruit, brown sugar, dark caramel and viscous syrupy malts. There is a touch of roasted malts and woodsy hops providing a mostly minimal bitterness. The finish is sweet and sticky with bright cherry flavors.
Very tasty but a tad too sweet to receive an even higher rating. (It’s still good) I would have liked a little more roasty bitterness for balance. Nevertheless, I’m happy to drink this and support a good cause.
