From the can, it pours a hazy yellow color. A large frothy head billows to the top and forms a big foam cap. It takes a while to subside and yields thick lacing throughout.
The aroma highlights the Amarillo hops nicely. Very citrusy and floral with notes of tangerine, orange ,grapefruit, lemon and fresh cut flowers.
Taste aligns with the aroma with its citrusy and floral flavors. Pithy and bright notes of grapefruit rind, orange and tangerine pulp, juicy but not too sweet. Balanced with a developing subtle bitterness that is mostly in the finish. Floral with a light grassy and piney spice. The dry cracker malt backbone is supplemented by soft and smooth notes of wheat and lightly creamy oats. Medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. The finish is dry and pithy.
I’ve had different versions of Dewey Beer CO’s Single For The Summer, with each focusing on a single hop. I believe this Amarillo version might be my favorite for how drinkable it is.
