Freshly sliced apples tossed in sweet brown sugar, just like your grandmother makes it.

Pours an opaque, brown'ish dark orange coloration with a medium, fluffy head and lots of tiny floaters. Smells of tart apples and brown sugar. Taste follows the nose, with a good balance of tart green apples and sweet brown sugar. Finishes with a medium tartness and some apple and brown sugar lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

While this is a bit one-dimensional. there certain is a certain apple pie feel to it, with the vibrant apple presence and brown sugar sweetness. The balance of sweet and tart notes actually works out pretty nicely here, starting out a bit sweet, but turning quite tart in the aftertaste.

6 oz draft mini-snifter pour at Lures Bar & Grille. Pours a murky orange with a moderate head. Flavor and aroma feature just a hint of apple pie spices, tart wheat, some apple, and unfortunately no streusel topping or pie crust. Kind of sweet - I guess that's the "a la mode"? It was decent enough but I was disappointed about the pie crust. Oh well.

From a pint can into a clear glass liter mug went this liquid. The color here is much like unfiltered apple cider. After a few seconds there's no head at all. It smells much like a lactose infused beer, with the apple a far distant second. That is how it goes across the tongue and down. Up front is the milkshake beer hit, with the apple only showing as the finish turns into a kettle sour one. There's not much reminiscent of pie crust, nor a good hint of the cinnamon which contributes to the taste of an apple pie. But, tasting exactly like a referenced flavor shouldn't be the only evaluation of a brew. What this brings is is the supple body of a milkshake beer, but also their sticky sweetness. Thankfully, it ultimately turns somewhat sour and that seems to clean up the stickiness. The finish salvages this beer and makes it at least drinkable. Maybe a little, or more, vanilla and cinnamon probably would help. But it's tough to turn kettle sours into a desert beer. There's some sort of crystal like substance left inside parts of the vessel, but nothing resembling true beer glass lacing.
