What a fabulous black lager! Dewey Beer is known, and quite rightly so, for their fruited sours, but this beer is just flat out awesome! A rich deep dark black lager! If you have a chance buy this wonderful beer!

Poured from the can into a Libbey style pilsner glass.
Deep mahogany brown with a big tan colored forming three finger head. Settles to a nice crowned collar and light top. Fairly basic, but also nicely presented.
Aroma takes the viewer into unexpected places. Clean, but with a larger presence unlike most lagers. Hard to categorize this beer, fairly bold and large sensing as the abv on the nose does show up to some degree. Coffee like malts, not unlike a schwarzbier but with even touches of thicker imperial carbon to char. Borders into imperial cake like chocolate as well.
Palate hits with some fun. Big flavors of coffee and a rich spice. Heat is more controlled and definitiely not sensing as hot compared to the nose. The palate really opens nicely with light milk chocolate, a faint touch of roast coffee, and a clean simple finish. A bit of prickly carbonation makes it's way not so much adding to the experience but to some degree slightly distracting.
Overall an interesting type of imperial dark lager.
