DATE: April 28. 2023... OCCASION: enjoying a family movie night--Glass Onion!--with a beer I had canned at Shangy's... GLASSWARE: Duvel snifter... a jet black body intimidating its chocolate-brown head into a thick, roiling, three-fingers-worth of bubbly thickness... my goodness, the thick chocolate fudge, tootsie roll, and aromatic coffee punish the nostrils with lactose and grounds... each sip is warming, toasty for a cold spring evening, yet creamy like a milkshake, covering its alcoholic tracks with a dessert-like finish... the mouthfeel is agreeable, heavy but soft, coating and comforting with significant weight... toasted malts begin a journey to a chocolate milkshake, smoky coffee, and peaty accents... this demands a slow, thoughtful sipping, akin to a cognac... what an engrossing, long-drawn stout that rewards with a power and flavor that offers licorice, pudding, chocolate, and fudge.... this is a great end-of-night finisher... a bit abrasive over time, but worth the money...
