mexican hot chocolate imperial stout, unique beer, super sweet, like palate coating and permanent and kind of diabetic, but the flavors are nice and the base stout is good too, i just wish it were dialed back a touch, not that its overly alcoholic or even over flavored, but the sugars in here are over the top, and i cant imagine doing a whole pint can of this in a sitting. thick as brownie batter but surprisingly well carbonated with a rising inch or more of deep mocha colored foam, airy and lasting, crowns this nicely, super leggy dark brown beer below it of the highest viscosity. aroma of warming cinnamon, dark bitter baking chocolate, and a ton of brown sugar and vanilla, roasty and dark too, even a smoke note, but the pastry part dominates, some lactose likely in here too. the flavor is good, brownie and fudge, lots of chocolate, and its great with all the grain in this, a molasses thing, sweet and bitter at the same time, the cinnamon is awesome and not overdone, there might be a light chili layer here too, it almost hurts my teeth immediately though its so sweet, a shame because the full body is cool, its creamy, deep, and interesting, but its hard to appreciate, its straight up candy. weird to have the added ingredients so tastefully proportioned and not run this a little drier. not quite gimmick level, and some will love this, but for me its a super small doses thing even without a big alcohol presence. had a few interesting beers from these guys at their new denver spot, very modern and trendy stuff, but i didnt love this one overall...
