A malty full flavor American Brown Ale. Chocolate, caramel, nutty and toasty notes come from the Chocolate, Marris Otter and Victory malt. Three distinct hop additions give the Lithology Brown Ale a balanced profile without over complicating the taste.

Lithology brown ale 4.9% crowler opened in February 2021 and poured into a nonic half pint glass. This is a very good example of a traditional style. To me this is similar to a British dark mild. It has a mild malt aroma and dark malt flavor with background hop bitterness. The crowler carbonation was fairly low, and to me, about right. Because this is a crowler, the leftover beer will lose more carbonation sitting overnight in the fridge. It should still be OK for me.

Pours a medium with a large, fluffy tan head that left little lacing. Smells and tastes of lightly roasted malts, chocolate, molasses, nuts and hops. The beer starts off slightly sweet and then becomes very bitter and a lingering bitter finish. Too bitter for the style in my opinion. Light bodied, watery mouth feel, lively carbonation.

The beer comes in a deep brown color.
The beer offers hints of chocolate, toasty malts, a touch of sweetness in the middle, with a medium bittering finish of hops. The mouthfeel is almost watery on the finish.
