A-Frame is a surfing term for a perfectly formed wave that breaks beautifully both left and right at its peak. Though not something we regularly experience here on Long Island, these waves were the inspiration for this golden colored beer. The Lithology A-Frame is brewed using noble hop varieties providing the beer with a slightly spicy and herbal aroma. Cold lagering and lightly malted grain makes the beer crisp, refreshing, and extremely drinkable.

A: The beer is clear golden yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of rice are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of rice along with hints of associated sweetness along with contrasting bitterness and flavors of floral hops.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and very clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This lager is extremely easy to drink and has an exceptional mouthfeel.

Lithology A-frame pilsner poured from a can at about 50F in May, 2020. Head vanishes immediately. Color is a nice pale amber. Taste is not much like a German Pilsner. I would classify it as a better example of an American lager from an earlier time. Definitely some flavor with a nice mouth feel and a moderate balanced aftertaste. This takes me back to the beers available when bar-hopping in the 70s.

Unimpressive 1 finger head that evaporated quickly. I've yet to have a pilsner with an overwhelming aroma and this fits the style, simple with a hint of citrus. Flavor is on profile also with with a noticeable sour grapefruit taste that adds depth without being overwhelming. Very well balanced that makes it easy to drink, dry but not too dry. Overall a refreshing take on a traditional pilsner.

Draft at the Brewery. Golden color, almost no head. Simple German malts on the backbone of this recipe. Simple flavor and very easy to drink. Warmed quickly in the pint.
