12 ounce can - $2.49 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a very dark brown, near black body with a medium-sized, light beige head.
Smell: Bitterish chocolate and a crisp edge of hard roast with coffee and plum/prune esters.
Taste: Dark roast with a bitter, lightly harsh, lightly acrid tone to it, leading to dark chocolate, espresso bean flecks, scorched milk and a punchy dark fruitiness. Lightly earthy, woodsy hops. That initial hard roasty element zigzags through the flavor through the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Smooth but a little fizzy in its suds delivery.
Overall: Certainly acceptable, but still a little ways from being a refined, polished milk stout.
