This review regards the Sodus Bay Taproom; not the “mothership” in Weedsport.
Lunkenheimer’s SBTR is a wonderful if small little oasis @ the Bay Bridge at base of Sodus Bay.
The taproom is wood- forward, clean and bright…with multiple seating options at bar, tables or outside.
They don’t serve food but allow patrons to bring in food especially helpful with a full service restaurant next door.
The intimacy of the room is enhanced with outside beauty of Sodus Bay.
The selection of beers is very good with @ 5-6 beers on tap; 8-10 beers in cans… which allows the ability to try IPAs; Porters; Lagers; Stouts… and other choices from Pale Ales and Fruit beers to a highly diverse selection of German style brewing including Alt biers; Roggenbiers; Dortmunder Lagers; Kellerbiers and a very popular variety of Kolsch.
Patrons are lively and highly supportive.
But it’s important to note that all this is led by Sally…bartender and face of the place. She is highly adept at tending the beer needs of patrons, knowledgeable about the brews…but is just a lovely person who assures a cheerful; spirited and friendly visit.
Finally, for the non beer drinkers there is a very nice selection of wine as well.
Highly worthwhile for a visit.

What a great brewery in such a small town. A very rinky dink place small yet very successful. The bartender seemed very knowledgeable and very friendly. They had 8 beers on tap and you could get flights of 6 beers or 8 beers. Wooden bar with wooden tables and a wooden picnic table. Pretty solid beer with a nice range of styles. I think their best beer they brew is stouts, porters, and sours. Their IPA's are decent but needs improvement. Overall pretty nice place that I will be re-visiting again.

Stopped in on Christmas Eve after visiting family. Located behind/next to the Old Erie Restaurant.

Very cozy and on the nanobrewery scale. There is plenty of seating given the size. Nice, new bar in place and with the high ceilings, the overall feel, while cozy in terms of space, I never felt cramped.

Owners were super friendly and clearly cared about their beer and their brewery. It's always good to see owners taking a proactive, "hands on" approach to business.

Prices were very reasonable for a tasting flight ($4-$6) and pints (most were $4.50). The kolsch and oatmeal stout on tap were extremely well done. The kolsch was clean and easy to drink; for a new brewery just getting its bearings, I'd say this is a good sign. It's not as complicated to make a huge hop bomb but requires a bit more skill and care to do subtle, clean beers like a kolsch correctly. Many of the brews on tap utilized NY state grains and hops.

If you find yourself on the NY State Thruway heading west toward Buffalo, take Exit 40 and pay these folks a visit. The brewery is less than two miles off of the exit and would be well worth a break from the road for a locally-sourced and locally-brewed pint.

Billed as a nanobrewery, this is a hip little place in very small town that has a little bit of an eclectic feel to it. I was visiting some friends who live in this part of NY and they thought I would like this place and I did. It has a few tables and a bar inside. Looks like outside seating too. I ordered the flight - 8 samples for $7; good deal. Beers were all in the 4.5%-6% ABV range. I had an altbier (good!), a sweet potato beer (tasted like a weak pumpkin ale), a dark wheat, a pale ale (crisp, very good!), two oatmeal stout (one nitro) (both very good), and I forget the other two. The lady who tapped our beers was friendly and there were two guys working the tanks right behind the bar itself. No food but there were peanuts on the table. My friend said they allow you to bring your own food. Neat place to visit if you're ever west of Syracuse.

The atmosphere here is awesome; very rustic and craftsman-like with tons of exposed wood and malt sacks hanging on the walls. The owners/brewers bring their Rhodesian Ridgebacks (the mascots) in regularly. Food comes from the Old Erie Restaurant next door, and is top notch. Beers are great and constantly rotating, and they use a Randall from time to time to give an extra hop-kick to some of their brews. Go there.
