Hey! A solid stout from Karl Strauss!
Pours a brownish black, with a light brown rim on the edge of my glass.
Smells like coffee and chocolate, with maybe a bit of roastiness. Kind of smells like a solid porter.
Tastes like a solid porter/stout hybrid. Chocolate is both roasted and sweet, and the coffee balances it out. Not wildly complex, but pretty darn tasty.
Decently thick mouthfeel.

Had at Universal City Walk 6/6/2010
Served in a pint glass
A: This beer pours an opaque, deep chocolate brown with a 1/4 inch of light brown head. Head disappears quickly leaving spotty lacing on the glass.
S: Nose is roasted and charred malts, hints of mild chocolate are also present.
T: Taste is roasted and toasted malts up in the forefront. Light, creamy coffee in the middle mingled with hints of charred malts. Finish is all milk chocolate.
M: Lighter side of medium body, medium carbonation, creamy body.
D: Goes down easily, not very filling, somewhat of a kick and a nice sessionable stout.

Part of a 6 beer sampler set in 5 oz glasses
This beer pours a nice dark dark brown. Minimal head, mostly around the rim. Smells strongly of chocolate and coffee. Taste is full of coffee and less so of chocolate. Mellow roasted flavor. There is minimal hop presence, just enough to balance the brew. Nice and drinkable.
