This is the beer that got my fiancé and I started on Karl Strauss (we were actually engaged at this brewery in San Diego)
It has a great coffee aroma and a smooth coffee/vanilla finish. Not your “average” stout as it is considered blonde. It is a little on the thick side, but nothing compared to a Guinness. I wish Karl would bring this one back, but they have Wreck Alley which is similar to this one (in case you’re interested).

Fairly nice, surprisingly flavorful stout - looks deceiving as it’s darker golden with just a little white head and spotty lingering lacing. Doesn’t look like a typical stout. But smells great, medium roast coffee, light milk chocolate mocha, vanilla, caramel and malt. Taste follows the nose. Not overly rich or deep but decent for a regular stout. Smooth, mild mouthfeel, not chewy or sticky, decent carbonation. Higher ABV is well hidden. Not too bad at all, will try more from this brewery!

Clear golden ale with a medium sized white head that doesn't last.
Smells strongly of coffee. Scent of toasted grain. Lesser scent of french vanilla. There is a little grassy hop scent but really no specific hop.
Starts out mild and mostly toasted grain. Coffee is in this but not strong coffee. Mildly malty in general. Mild chest warming from the alcohol but no actual taste of alcohol. Very mild bitterness. In general is is just very easy on the tongue.
Mouthfeel is on the thick side.
Overall an interesting "stout" of an untypical type.
