Ahh, the golden stout. Light in color, heavy in WTF. Here’s the secret: this beer is blonde because it’s brewed without roasted barley. But take a sip, and it is a stout through and through. So what gives? Rolled oats produce a smooth and creamy mouthfeel, while roasted flavors of sweet chocolate and espresso are thanks to the addition of vanilla beans, cocoa nibs, and coffee. And that’s where our caffeinated friends at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters come in. Their single-origin Ethiopian coffee beans are the pièce de résistance in this stout, layering in additional flavors of subtle fruit. Crack open a can, confuse your friends, and enjoy.

Exceeded pretty much every rating category. The smell is purely fresh roasted coffee, taste is everything you want, followed by a satisfying finish.
Wish I can get in Ohio.

A lot of foam on this one.
Smells like coffee and a hint of vanilla.
Taste has the coffee and vanilla, but the blonde beer does not seem to meld well with it in this beer, giving a bit of tangy metallic flavor that is off putting.
Feel is good.
Overall, an ok attempt at a coffee blonde, but falls a little short for me.

On tap at Karl Strauss in 4S Ranch, CA.
Raul was straight confounded at first when he saw the thang. Like, it’s Paris Hilton light. That said, when I took a sip… badonka donk like a Kardashian surgically altered booty. And it’s wild like that. You see and you think… but then you drink and you… well, change your mind. Because the damn thing is stout-like like Rasputin before he met his reward. Oh, and it’s pretty good too.
Release me.

16oz can. No dating information found.
Nearly clear, pale gold colored body. White head with the pour but this disappears quickly, leaving some quiet surface storm. No lacing.
Aroma is coffee, chocolate, and vanilla.
Taste is full of coffee and chocolate. Some sweet vanilla also. Has a secret core of cream ale trying to get out.
More than medium mouthfeel, with a creamy texture. Bitterness level is low. Okay carbonation.
Attractive and authentic flavors but seems manipulated somehow. Missing the roasted malts. Clever brewing however.
